What are steroid used for treating?

The corticosteroids are one given or prescribed for people who need to treat their immune system and who also have endocrine disorders. For instance, people who treat allergies, arthritis, asthma, and several musculoskeletal conditions.

The anabolic steroid is synthetic variation of male testosterone and might be recommended for treating several types of hypogonadism for reducing muscle wasting. It is often observed with AIDS, HIV, cancer patients, and other treatment. The corticosteroids are called immunosuppressive drugs and also immunomodulators. Some people have the corticosteroids manufactured in their adrenal cortex. Two of such types of steroids are known as aldosterone and cortisol.

You must note that several corticosteroids are more powerful than one and their mechanism of action would be longer. There are more hormones in the adrenal cortex and they are known as secondary sex characteristics like progestins, androgens, and estrogens.

The corticosteroids are strong drugs which were commonly used for reducing inflammation. These are valuable treatments for any condition and that can lead to inflammation. Some conditions are like rheumatoid arthritis, severe allergic reactions, connective tissue disorders and multiple sclerosis. This is known for treating skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis.
